Liquid Beat Records/Slum Funk Entertainment are proud to announce the 12″ vinyl release of Libretto’s lead single “Ride to Dat” ft. Guilty Simpson b/w “Da Bump!” from his forthcoming album, “The Captain”.

“Ride To Dat” is the follow up to Libretto’s classic single “Volume” ft. Lifesavas and it finds him at the top of his game trading verses with Detroit’s Guilty Simpson.  The song boasts production from Sedell Jones and 2 remixes from Lifesavas’ own Rev. Shines and JUMBO the Garbageman.  The original version of “Ride To Dat” is a certified summer jam while the remixes add their own ill flavor for these two Hip-Hop heavyweights to toast to.

An a-side track on any other release, “Da Bump!”  shows Libretto’s versatility as an emcee in the way he matches his lyrics and delivery perfectly around Wolveryne’s dynamic production.  With a fresh flip of a Digable Planets sample that gives “Da Bump!”‘ an infectious rhythm and flow, Libretto and Wolveryne have created the perfect forward thinking club hit rooted firmly in the true school.

Libretto’s new single is Hip-Hop at its finest, fit for any era, and a welcome return from one of Hip-Hop’s great voices.

Watts transplant, and Portland resident Libretto has been making his mark on the Hip-Hop landscape since 2003 with his appearance on the “Spirit In Stone” LP (Quannum) by his Misfit Massive crew members, Lifesavas.  As a result of his standout verses on the record, Libretto landed a deal with One Drop/BSI Records to release his debut single “Dirty Thangs” b/w “Alma Matter”.  The record was a testament to his vision of merging “pure soul, hip-hop, and urban resonance (Amazon)” and the buzz around the promising emcee continued to build to the point that LA’s Dim Mak Records became interested, and released Libretto’s next single entitled “Volume” ft. Lifesavas.  The song has gone on to be licensed numerous times, including being featured on Tony Hawk’s Underground 2 video game.  “Volume” was also one of the 14 songs that  comprised Libretto’s 2005 full length debut LP/CD, “Ill-Oet: The Last Element”, also on Dim Mak Records.  Upon release, the record was heralded as “some of the most original hip-hop to come out of the West Coast” by publications like Modern Fix.  Libretto has kept busy performing, dropping guest verses, and by putting out conceptual, album worthy mixtapes under the name Kokanut Brown, all the while prepping for his anticipated sophomore release, “The Captian”.
