I know its been a while since i put my thoughts out there, but ya boy been going thru it like never before!! This life is very precious, but the struggle that comes with it is treacherous! I know ya’ll feel me in these trying times… Well keeping it brief; my living situation is crazy, no budget to finish mastering my latest project got me in a stand still with a classic album just chillin in the oven. As a matter of  fact, 2 classic joints in there!  Trying to do this on my own has depleted the majority of my funds i had in the cut… My son just turned 1 on the 6th of May, my daughter bout to be in junior-high next year, and im a starvin artist lookin to touch the world with good music. Shit is not happenin! I am actually spillin this while i sit in the unemployment office trying to find a gig! Somethin gotta give… Its either sink or swim at  this point. I’m a Pisces so that is no problemo for ya boy… but the current is stronger than ever! For me to be in this position at my age is not a good. Especially when you got dope music that can move units and touch folk at the same time. Shit, me and my crew is on some certified classic shit! But this recession got me really on my “Captain Crook” shit!  I’m hoping i don’t catch a case so pray for me… God willing, the new album should be out by the end of this summer. Thanks for ya time and patience.

To all those who have showed love and downloaded my podcast i just wanted to say thankyou and i want you to share them with everybody on your e-mail list. I have not posted a new one due to putting the finishing touches on my sophmore release and making sure the quality is precise. I will be posting snippets of the album shortly. Not for download yet, but “Ride to Dat” and “Captain Crook” will be available as soon as the masters get sent to wax!  Rest assured, i am more than ready to give you this music i have been sculpting. I am already well in to my 3rd release with material. Just keep ya eyes and ears tuned in right here! I promise…you wont miss the miracle!!

I swear i can’t wait until midnight! I gotta admit, this has been one of the worst years of my life!! Besides the birth of my son Anaru and President Obama runnin’ thangs… its been all bad!! G.I.P. to all my dead homies we lost this year! B.L., Tweeder Loc,Guss,Lil Tank, Yng. Nicc,Usoma and every other soldier we lost to the streets. Hopefully this will be a much better year for everybody who had a ruff one in ’09. Those who can’t relate, just be happy you made it through another decade! All praises due to God and his angles who watch over me everyday and night. To all my peep’s whose pockets are hurtin, we gone cake up this year! One, of my new year’s resolution is to at least put up 100k this this year! If you shoot big and fall short you still got it in! So aim high and try to put God first; Has hard as it may be… we gotta do that. Health is also important resolution to keep in mind. LIBRETTO!

Hopefully everybody out there had a blessed holiday,  for many like myself, it was hard. Being a “starving artist” is very dificult around this time of the year. I was hopeing to have my new 12′ out by now, but God must not want it to happen at the this time. So a Jan. release is the outcome for the new joints. Without any income other than music and music. it is very difficult to keep a firm grip on my finanaces. Staying out of the clutches of “the man” (a.k.a jail) is my only goal. So i have to cope with being broke and humble. Now dont get it twisted… i can easily go out and sell drugs,rob people or buisnesses, burglerize rich neighborhoods at ease! But when i live like that i jepordize my freedom and thats where i get spooked. I love my freedom and appreiciate it. I have been incarcerated before and its not the bizness! So, therfore i gotta make due with what i know. MUSIC!  Trying to explain this to my 10 yr.old daughter is another story. My son doesn’t know that pop’s is broke and struglin’ but my oldest does. She wants to know when i am going to be on BET. I tell her when daddy gets his music in the right hands of important people who appreciate it. I got laid off my job that i have worked for 8 yrs. With no unemployment and plenty of felonies, my hopes for a new job are minimal. So i enrolled in school to study music. Now, with that being done i can go part time and get financial aid, loans etc.. Which was nice, until i had to move out my place where i have been living at an afordable cost for a good year or so. Seems the owners wanted to sell and gave me and my roommates 30 days to vacate. So now the “couch surfing” begins. This is the ruff point. No where to record, no stable roof, no income. LOW TIMES! But being raised in Watts in the Jordan Downs has prepeared me for anything! Its nothin to me, but to my love ones it dosent look good. I need some prayer. Or im gonna be on “First on Fox” for a smooth getaway heist! WORD UP! With joints on my new project feat. Lyrics Born, Boots Riley, Lifesavas,Awall,Jimetta Rose and Guilty Simpson. Im sure to get some doe sooner than later. But this hurry up and wait game is SERIOUS!! Im still writing songs, mixing and mastering! Gotta make sure the product is dope! So i take my time…meanwhile the struggle continues. To help with finances, i am re-releasing the Kokanut Brown mixtape with all original beats. Remixed by an up and coming producer out the 503, who goes by S.V.This will be a slumfunk.com release only! Garunteed to be a classic for all who appreciate dope music with a cinematic appeal to it. S.V. weaves his notes around Kokanut’s rusty heroic vocals that were composed over the late J.Dilla’s unreleased masterpeices. Talk about a hard act to follow…lol! But, hopefully this will help with the finances of the new project since the lable dosent want to do the wax. And i gotta have wax for my headz who still dig and respect the art of of the sl-1200. So ya boy been out here trying to stay above water. Living righteous is not an easy task. The stakes are high and many shall fail, but i keep on pushin’… It may be low times right now, but one thang. When your at the bottom, the only way to go is up!
